About Heather

The professional side...

I am a member of The United States Green Building Council, Cleveland Green Building Coalition, and Green City/Blue Lake, in addition to three real estate boards.  I have 12 years experience as a Realtor and have been with the same Coldwell Banker office for the last 10 years.  I am also a certified EcoBroker and I own a small investment company concentrating on the green remodel of existing real estate.  Currently I am working toward my LEED AP certification, a rigorous program ending with a five hour test.  Although this certification is intended for engineers and architects, I am certain it will be another valuable advantage for my buyers, seller, and investors.  My involvement in these organizations allows for unparalleled networking opportunities and has provided a unique and valuable combination of talents that sets me apart from other real estate professionals.  I have found a way out for my clients. My specialized education and experience gives insight to my clients diverse needs AND the means to achieve our objectives.
In today's hectic world, I know the importance of a relaxed and efficient real estate transaction. A stress free and seamless deal where all parties win is always my ultimate goal.   I lean on technology and innovation while never underestimating old-fashioned hard work and perserverance.

A closer look...

I wanted to give readers an insider's view of who I am on a more personal level.  What better way to do that than to ask those closest to me?  So this morning, instead of sitting alone with my laptop in the corner of the local Arabica, I invited some friends and colleagues to join me. I asked them to best describe my personality (giving them complete immunity if they chose to participate).  Here are the results:

-"if you're afraid of the answer, don't ask the question.  She will tell you the way it is"
-"she is very outgoing and her optimism is contagious."
-"anyone who runs 20 miles for fun has too much energy."
-"once she commits to something, you can consider it done...'failure' is not a word in her vocabulary."
-"to her, nothing is considered impossible, she is resourceful and seems to always find a way."
-"she is the real deal, what you see is what you get"
-"competitive"
-"her vision is inspiring"
-"an open minded, clear thinker"
-"she can be a little intense, textbook 'type A' personality"

Okay... At this point I decided to suspend my morning project; they were starting to have too much fun with their "free pass".  Nevertheless, it's all very true.  I do believe that excellence is worth the daily pursuit and I never settle for the status quo.  I find it fun and exciting to push myself to new heights.  If we don't do that, how will we know what we can accomplish?  We need direction and goals in our lives and the challenges along our journey just add to the adventure. This builds confidence, character, and strength.  I bring this attitude to my clients.  I have a proven history of staying ahead of the curve and overcoming obstacles in a challenging market.  I don't believe that a downturn in the economy means that we should  use that as an excuse not to look ahead.  I have heard time and time again from other Realtors, "oh well, I guess I'll go back to work after the market recovers".  That sickens me.  If people are looking for reason not to get up in the morning they will find one. We live in a country with endless opportunities, we need to keep looking forward and turn to innovation and old fashioned hard work to overcome challenges.  I'm not in denial about our current economy and the hurdles we must overcome, but we must overcome; that's my point.

Thank you for visiting and reading my thoughts...I have to admit, I love a captive audience. Maybe we will run into each other on a Saturday morning at the local coffee house, I'll be the one sitting in the corner table with my nose in my laptop enjoying a house blend and a double chocolate muffin.  I do hope you will call on me when you find yourself facing the real estate market; I would love to be on your side.

My favorite quotes:

"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing, it's when you've had everything to do and you've done it!" --Margaret Thatcher

"I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp in-focus picture of it in my head." -- Jack Nicklaus

"In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with." -- Brian Tracy
